Orienteering Competition – MSF

Digitizing the Traditional Fundraising Event

Médecins Sans Frontières is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare.

“MSF Orienteering Competition” allows participants to experience the challenges faced by MSF field workers when they walk through some of the world’s most testing environments to provide medical aid to patients in the front line. The participants have raised over HK$5.1 million in 2014 and It has been the largest orienteering competition in Hong Kong for those 13 consecutive years.

Since 2012, MSF has been working with VICOSYS to put the enrollment and donation online for an effective way to organize the competition.

VICOSYS has used a custom content management system to develop the website which gives MSF flexibility to set different requirements and enrollment flows for each category for a diversity competition. The website is equipped with a comprehensive online donation system with major online payment methods supported, both participants and donors may seek for sponsorship and make a gift hassle-free.

Participant has a dedicated fundraising page for seeking sponsorship from friends on Facebook. They can also manage the page and check the acquired sponsorship by logging to the system.

Colleagues from MSF are able to manage the enrollment, donation and notifying participants thought the well-equipped backend management system.

Responsive layout design has deployed to the major sections of the website, participants are able to get competition news and make an online donation via smartphones and tablets.
